PGL Esports has revealed new details about its next flagship Counter-Strike 2 tournament, PGL Astana 2026 — including a massive $1.6 million prize pool and a high-stakes qualification format.
Set to take place from May 7th to 18th, 2026, the tournament will culminate in front of a live audience at the Barys Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan, from May 16th to 18th.
PGL Astana 2026 will welcome 16 of the best CS2 teams in the world. Twelve teams will qualify directly based on their VRS as of March 2nd, while four more will make their way through a combination of Open and Closed Qualifiers.

The seeding for the group stage will be determined by the updated VRS rankings on April 6th.
This will be PGL’s third major CS2 tournament since the launch of the game, following PGL Copenhagen 2025 and PGL Stockholm 2021, both of which were praised for their production quality and passionate crowds.
With Astana being a new frontier for Counter-Strike esports, expectations are high for another unforgettable LAN experience. This also marks one of the biggest esports events ever hosted in Kazakhstan, signaling the region’s growing presence in the global competitive scene.
