The Esports World Cup (EWC) is set for a major expansion in 2026. Organizers have announced that the next edition will feature 32 teams, a $2,000,000 prize pool, and the introduction of open LAN qualifiers.
These updates are designed to make the tournament more inclusive and elevate its global prestige.

Unlike previous editions that relied heavily on direct invitations, the 2026 event will allow teams from around the world to qualify through LAN competitions — creating opportunities for emerging squads to break onto the big stage.

The extended tournament will also include a longer schedule, featuring over 80 hours of matches across group stages and playoffs. This change raises the stakes for both players and organizers, increasing the production scale but also delivering more intense and memorable matches for fans.
EWC’s expansion represents another step toward the evolution of competitive esports — emphasizing accessibility, fair competition, and the growth of the global scene.
