Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, has recorded impressive early performance with nearly 6 million units sold in its first fiscal quarter since launch on June 5th, 2025. The company’s Q1 FY2025/26 financial report highlights substantial revenue growth and international traction, pointing to a strong start for the device.
In its first four days, Switch 2 sales hit 3.5 million, a figure that has now grown to 6 million by the end of Q1. This outpaces the original Switch’s performance in 2017, which sold 2.74 million in its launch month and reached 5.57 million by the end of its first fiscal quarter.

Nintendo maintains its forecast of 15 million Switch 2 units sold by the end of FY2025/26. While the launch performance has exceeded early expectations, the console still faces the long-term challenge of matching the original Switch’s lifetime sales of over 139 million units.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is on track for a highly successful fiscal year, buoyed by strong international demand and early adoption momentum. With holiday season performance and software attach rates yet to be reported, Q2 will be pivotal in shaping the console’s trajectory.
