It’s official — Overpass is back. Valve has made a major shakeup to Counter-Strike 2’s competitive map pool by removing Anubis and bringing back the fan-favorite Overpass, just in time for Premier Season Three and the upcoming pro season.
This marks the first major map change since the start of the 2025 competitive season, when Train made its long-awaited comeback, replacing Vertigo.

Anubis, once the fresh underdog of the map pool, was added in November 2022 and quickly became a staple in CS:GO and early CS2. Known for its vibrant Egyptian theme and wide-open mid, the map offered a unique tactical flavor.
This patch didn’t just mess with maps — Valve also dropped some spicy gameplay tweaks:
- CT Economy Buff: New shared team reward when defenders eliminate attackers mid-round
- Incendiary Grenade: Wider spread to control space better
- MP9 Nerf: Increased recoil and nerfed jumping accuracy — goodbye, bunny-hopping entries
- Anti-Scam Tool: Players can now revoke all item trades from the last 7 days to fight scammers
While some fans appreciated its complexity, others criticized its chaotic timings and utility-heavy playstyle. Now, after nearly three years, it takes a step back from Active Duty.
