Valve co-founder and Steam creator Gabe Newell has acquired one of the most advanced and expensive modern superyachts — the Leviathan, valued at approximately $400 million.
The vessel was built by Dutch shipyard Oceanco, renowned for producing luxury mega-yachts for ultra-wealthy clients including Jeff Bezos. Leviathan is considered one of the most ambitious engineering projects in the private maritime industry.

At 111 meters in length, the yacht impresses with its size and technology. It features a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system, allowing for quiet operation and increased energy efficiency. The vessel can accommodate 22 guests and 33 crew members, with a gross tonnage of nearly 5000 GT.
The exterior design was crafted by De Voogt Naval Architects, while the interior was created by Mark Berryman Design, known for blending minimalism with luxury craftsmanship.

Leviathan isn’t just a symbol of wealth — it represents Newell’s passion for engineering, experimentation, and technical excellence. His choice of Oceanco is no coincidence: the company specializes in highly customized mega-yachts built with sustainability, hybrid propulsion, and autonomous navigation in mind.
According to Western media reports, Newell intends to use the Leviathan not only as a private yacht but also as a platform for tech experiments and engineering research, ranging from robotics and autonomous systems to marine analytics and environmental monitoring.
