According to a series of leaked posts originally appearing on China’s Weibo, Riot Games is preparing to launch what fans believe to be League of Legends 2 in the second half of 2026.
The rumours claim the title will operate on a brand-new engine, feature significantly enhanced graphics, smoother animations and a complete rebalance of the champion roster.

According to the source, LoL 2 will retain the core of the familiar gameplay, but will receive a complete technical redesign – from a new engine to redesigned graphics and updated code. The developers plan to conduct a large-scale rebalance of champions, as well as improve their abilities and mechanics to increase the smoothness of gameplay and balance the dynamics of matches.
While Riot has not officially confirmed the release or details, the discussion gained traction after a now-deleted post on Chinese social network Weibo claimed the new title will deliver the same core gameplay while dramatically modernising the technical foundation.
Community reactions are mixed: many players are excited for an upgrade after nearly two decades of the original game, while others worry about how existing skins and progress might carry over—or not.
If the timeline holds, League of Legends 2 would mark one of the boldest transitions in the MOBA genre, pushing Riot to rebuild foundational systems while preserving its massive esports ecosystem.
