Rockstar Delays (Again) GTA 6 to November 2026

Rockstar Games has officially announced that Grand Theft Auto VI will now launch on 19 November 2026, having been pushed back from its previous release window of May 2026.

In its statement on social media, Rockstar acknowledged the extended wait — now over a decade since the release of GTA V in 2013 — and apologised to fans. The studio said the delay allows additional time to deliver the “level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

Analysts say the move, while disappointing to many, could work to the benefit of the game’s publisher Take‑Two Interactive Software. Releasing during the holiday season aligns with peak consumer spending and provides more opportunities for console bundles and marketing support from hardware manufacturers.

Still, the delay has caused some investor concern: Take-Two’s shares fell around 5% in pre-market trading after the announcement. However, outlooks remain upbeat, with bookings projections shifted rather than cut.

The long development and repeated delays highlight the challenges of mega-budget game development — rising costs, high expectations, and pressure to deliver each instalment as a blockbuster event. For fans, the wait goes on.
