Nintendo and accessory-maker Genki have reached a confidential settlement following a legal dispute over mock‑ups of the Nintendo Switch 2 shown by Genki at CES prior to Nintendo’s official reveal.
The lawsuit, filed earlier in 2025, accused Genki of trademark infringement, unfair competition, and false advertising. Genki had exhibited a 3D‑printed mock‑up bearing Switch 2 branding and began marketing accessories with claimed compatibility before the system was publicly announced.

Under the terms of the settlement, Genki will pay an undisclosed sum in damages and must cease using Nintendo trademarks or designs that are “confusingly similar” to official Switch 2 logos and naming conventions.

Genki maintains it never possessed a real Switch 2 unit before the public launch, and the origins of its mock‑ups remain tied to leaks rather than internal access.
The company argued that Genki’s promises of compatibility “could not be made without unauthorized or illegal early access to the Nintendo Switch 2,” and concluded that Genki “has misled, and continues to mislead, the public regarding its ability to ensure product compatibility with the upcoming console.”
