Danish esports powerhouse Astralis has officially been acquired by Fusion Esports Group, as confirmed in filings completed on September 5, 2025. The investor group is led by Jakob Lund Kristensen, a co-founder of Astralis, and Jonas “calc” Gundersen, former COO of Ninjas in Pyjamas.
The acquisition follows a rough 2024 for the organization, which reported a substantial loss of ~£3.6M, raising serious concerns among stakeholders.

Kristensen’s return to the helm marks a full-circle moment: as one of Astralis’s original founders and a former CEO of Copenhagen Wolves, his leadership brings familiarity amid uncertainty. The investment was further backed by Sander Janca, CEO of Flatpay, and Thorbjørn Rønje, co-founder of Bifrost Studios.
The impact Astralis has had in bringing esports into the global mainstream market cannot be overstated

Astralis secured the return of Emil “Magisk” Reif to their CS2 roster as Martin “stavn” Lund stepped away for personal reasons. The revamped squad will debut under the new ownership at FISSURE Playground 2 in Serbia on September 12. This tournament also serves as a vital opportunity to regain footing ahead of the upcoming StarLadder Budapest Major.
