The Apex Legends Global Series isn’t leaving Japan anytime soon. EA has officially announced that the ALGS Championship will remain in Sapporo, Japan for both Year 5 and Year 6, following a multi-year agreement with the City of Sapporo.
The premier battle royale esports event will continue to be held at the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME, solidifying Japan’s place as a rising force in global esports.
This move builds directly on the massive success of the Year 4 ALGS Championship, which was held in January 2025 and marked the series’ first foray into Japan. That event shattered attendance records, drawing over 34,000 fans from around the world — making it the most-attended ALGS event in history.
The energy and passion that our fans in Sapporo bring to the ALGS is unmatched

Japan has become a hotspot for Apex Legends, not only for its passionate player base but also for its thriving streaming and content creator scene.
Still, the road isn’t without its bumps. Just last month, long-time North American org Complexity exited the ALGS after six years in the scene, citing shifting priorities. But overall, the league remains strong — and the return to Japan signals a confident, fan-driven future.
