A true icon of the game is hanging up his mouse. Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, one of the most decorated players in Counter-Strike history, has officially announced his retirement from professional play after an unforgettable 13-year career.
The announcement came in emotional fashion on stage at the BLAST.tv Austin Major, just ahead of the Grand Final between Team Vitality and The MongolZ.
Fighting back tears, dupreeh told the crowd and viewers around the world that he’s stepping away from competition to spend more time with his family, especially his two young children.
Dupreeh leaves the stage as the only player in Counter-Strike history to win five Major championships — a feat no one else has matched. He rose to legendary status during his time with Astralis, where he was part of the core that dominated the CS:GO era from 2018 to 2020, winning three consecutive Majors and redefining what it meant to play structured, team-first Counter-Strike.
Today, I stand with five titles, and I think that the only rightful way to do and say that this is the end of my career as a professional player is to do it on the biggest stage and to do it in front of all of you
Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen
Beyond Astralis, dupreeh also represented Dignitas, TSM, Team Vitality, and most recently, Team Falcons, bringing championship pedigree, consistency, and veteran leadership wherever he went.
Over his 13 years at the top, dupreeh amassed $2.2 million in prize winnings and countless memories for fans around the world.
