Ubisoft Says Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake Is Still “On Board”

While the image stirred up some nostalgic excitement, fans hoping for a solid release date will have to settle for a vague window: by March 2026. Image source: Ubisoft

After a long silence, Ubisoft has confirmed that the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is still very much alive — but don’t hold your breath just yet.

In a recent social media update, Ubisoft shared that the game is still “deep in development,” alongside a new piece of concept art featuring a familiar building from the original 2003 classic.

The remake has had a rough journey since its announcement in 2020. The original reveal — with its dated graphics and clunky presentation — didn’t exactly win fans over.

In response to heavy criticism, Ubisoft rebooted the project entirely, moving development from its Pune and Mumbai studios to Ubisoft Montréal, the team behind the original Sands of Time trilogy.

It’s been nearly two decades since Sands of Time wowed players with its acrobatic platforming and time-rewind mechanic. While the remake’s road has been bumpy, Ubisoft seems determined to deliver something worthy of the original’s legacy.
