Fortnite Hits Two-Year Player Count Low Amid Star Wars Event

Fortnite has recorded its lowest average player count in two years, with numbers dipping below one million daily players during its recent Star Wars collab. Despite this decline, the game’s competitive esports scene continues to thrive, showcasing resilience and sustained interest among fans.

According to data from Fortnite.gg, the game’s average daily player count over the past 30 days dropped to 994,711—the lowest since May 2023, which saw 927,403 players. This marks the first time in two years that the average has fallen below the one million mark .

The decline coincided with Fortnite’s latest Star Wars event, “Death Star Sabotage,” which, despite introducing themed content and in-game activities, did not significantly boost player engagement . Some community members have expressed concerns over the game’s recent updates and content direction, suggesting that the novelty of collaborations may be waning .

While Fortnite faces challenges in maintaining its casual player base, its robust esports infrastructure and dedicated competitive community continue to drive engagement and interest in the game.
