In a significant shift for western League of Legends, North America’s LTA North region has officially surpassed Europe’s LEC in Riot Games’ latest regional power rankings, published following the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI).
The change marks the first time in recent memory that North America is ranked as the top-performing western region, underlining a broader trend in regional momentum.
The rise of LTA North — the new competitive structure that replaced the LCS under Riot’s global reformatting — has been building since the end of Split 1 earlier this year. At that point, the region trailed the LEC by 63 points, holding a Regional Strength Score (RSS) of 1403.

This change isn’t purely symbolic — it’s calculated through Riot Games’ Contextualised Match Weighting model, which evaluates regional strength based on a team’s match history. The model prioritizes performance at international events, such as MSI and Worlds, with additional weight given to knockout-stage and group-stage matches over regular season or domestic games.
The LEC’s decline in the rankings is directly tied to its performance at MSI 2025. Both G2 Esports and Movistar KOI were eliminated early, with G2 falling to North America’s FlyQuest, and Movistar KOI losing to CTBC Flying Oyster.
With the LEC now looking to recover from a disappointing international campaign and LTA North continuing to rise, the second half of 2025 promises to be a defining period in western League of Legends.
